About the Digital Circle

A network and round table of digital policy actors in the heart of the European Union. Bringing experts from different digital sectors together to the same table to discuss industry-wide priorities.

The Digital Circle is all about adding up sectoral insights to assemble the bigger picture of the Digital Single Market. By uniting different digital sectors around the same table, the complexity of the DSM is deconstructed through the prism of sectoral specificities, allowing for linkages and bridge-building to work towards a coherent, balanced and interdependent DSM.

Discussion of relevant topics, exchange of points of views, sharing of insights – the members of the Digital Circle regularly meet as a cross-industry working group under Chatham house rules, together with representatives of the European institutions, to bring policy-making forward and to contribute to bridging the gap between digital sectors.

Members of the Digital Circle are people, not companies or associations, who have expertise in their field, represent the interests of smaller European digital players and, most often, act as so-called “one-(wo)man-shows” in Brussels.

The Digital Circle covers some the main sectors of the digital industry and is expanding its membership so as to cover further and more specific areas of the digital world.

Initially based on the infrastructure sectors, the Digital Circle has grown to cover “intangible” sectors, such as the internet, cloud and software.

Each sector is represented by at least one expert in the field. All members of the Digital Circle have long-standing expertise and know-how in EU policy-making and their respective areas of interest.
